The Organizing Committee of the 23rd Liver Sinusoid Meeting – International Symposium on Cells of the Hepatic Sinusoid – is pleased to announce the release of the final scientific program for the upcoming conference, to be held in Tarragona, Spain, from May 23 to 26, 2026.
Marking the 50th anniversary of the International Society for Hepatic Sinusoidal Research (ISHSR), this edition brings together a distinguished international faculty alongside a strong cohort of selected contributors. The final program features a comprehensive lineup of invited lectures, oral communications, and poster presentations, showcasing cutting-edge research from scientists representing more than 30 countries.
The meeting will address key areas in liver sinusoid biology, including endothelial cell function, fibrosis, inflammation, regeneration, chronic liver diseases, and cancer, as well as emerging technologies for multidimensional analysis. True to the ISHSR tradition, the program has been designed to promote high-level scientific exchange within a focused, highly interactive environment.
“This year’s program reflects both the maturity of the field and the exciting new directions it is taking,” said the meeting chair, Jordi Gracia-Sancho. “We are particularly proud of the quality and diversity of the selected abstracts, which will play a central role in the scientific discussions.”
In addition to oral communications, a distinctive feature of the meeting will be the poster sessions, which are given dedicated time slots to encourage in-depth presentation and discussion. These sessions are designed to maximize interaction between presenters and attendees, fostering meaningful scientific exchange. In recognition of excellence, the best poster presentations will be awarded, highlighting outstanding contributions from the community.
Beyond the scientific content, the meeting will offer a curated social program aimed at fostering networking and collaboration, including a welcome reception in a historic venue, a gala dinner commemorating the society’s anniversary, and guided visits to Tarragona’s Roman heritage, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Registration remains open until May 15th, 2026 (non-extendable). With accommodation availability becoming limited, participants are encouraged to confirm their attendance promptly.
To facilitate travel, the organizers will provide dedicated bus transfers between Tarragona and Barcelona, supporting convenient access to EASL 2026 and major transport hubs.
The ISHSR 2026 meeting is expected to be a defining event for the liver sinusoid research community, combining scientific excellence with a unique and engaging setting on the Mediterranean coast.
