By Air

The nearest international airport is Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), located about 80 km from Tarragona. From the airport, you can reach Tarragona by:

Bus:

Direct buses operated by Empresa Plana connect Barcelona Airport to Tarragona in about 1 hour. Mostly recommended option.

Train:

Trains or metro from the Airport to Barcelona-Sants station, then transfer to Regional train to Tarragona (total journey time: 2 hours).

Taxi/Car Rental:

A taxi or rental car from the airport to Tarragona takes approximately 50-60 minutes via the AP-7 motorway.

 

Alternatively, Reus Airport (REU) is just 15 km from Tarragona and serves some European destinations, mainly low-cost airlines. Taxis and buses are available from Reus to Tarragona.

By Train

Tarragona has excellent rail connections:

High-Speed Train (AVE/Avant):

Tarragona’s Camp de Tarragona Station (10 km from the city center) is served by high-speed AVE and Avant trains from Barcelona, Madrid, and other major Spanish cities. Shuttle buses and taxis connect the station to the city.

Regional Trains:

Tarragona’s main railway station (Estació de Tarragona) is centrally located and served by Rodalies, and Regional trains from Barcelona.

By Bus

Tarragona’s central bus station (Estació d’Autobusos de Tarragona) offers frequent intercity and long-distance services:

From Barcelona

Empresa Plana operates buses from Barcelona’s El Prat Airport and Sants station, taking about 1 hour.

From other Spanish cities:

ALSA and other operators provide connections from Madrid, Valencia, and other regions.

By Car

Tarragona is easily accessible by road:
